Within a year I was almost pain free
I started Pilates in 2005 as a result of a torn disc, arthritis and compression in my lower back. For years the pain was so bad I could hardly walk and was not able to sit comfortably at all. My acupuncturist recommended Pilates to strengthen my core whereas my doctor recommended I have a spinal fusion. I decided to try Pilates and within a year I was almost pain free. My back was doing so well that I even continued the exercises throughout my two pregnancies. I know I will always need to keep my core strong, so Pilates will be a lifelong activity for me. Being pain free allows me to enjoy the time I spend with my children. My favorite activity has always been horseback riding but I had to give it up because of my back, but my goal is to be strong enough to one day to get back on a horse! I know with Pilates that dream will come true!
